Magic Valley's top track and field performers

Like all other sports, track and field revved back up in the Magic Valley this past week after spring break. The Times-News released an initial top performers list on March 25 and will release a similar list weekly until the state championships, set for May 16-17. The 2A/3A/4A meet will take place at Middleton High School with 5A/6A at Mountain View High School in Meridian.

The top performers in each event will be released in the Tuesday print edition. The top six performers in each event will be posted on MagicValley.com as the top six finishers in each event medal at the state championships.

Almost four weeks into the season, Kimberly boasts most local top times in boys and girls events with six each. Lady Bulldogs junior Isabella Burnett owns the state’s fastest girls 400 meters. Kimberly sophomore Karlie Bair is tied with Murtaugh sophomore Bristyl Perkins for the state’s top mark in the girls long jump.

Burnett, Hannah Fisher, Samantha Hardy and Renatta Welch also own the state’s fastest girls 4x200 relay. Burley senior Alex Rushton upped his state best performance in the boys high jump as he cleared a personal best of 6-foot-10 in the Boise Relays. Wood River junior Jackson Wallace (boys 100 and 200 meters), Oakley senior Liam Koziol (boys 110-meter hurdles and long jump) and Twin Falls senior Raelee Richardson (girls 1600 and 3200 meters) join Bair (girls 100 meters and long jump) and Burnett (girls 200 and 400 meters) as Magic Valley athletes with the top local performances in multiple events.
