From Carina Mirabile ’s headscarf to Jacqui Burfoot ’s blue wedding dress, the brides on this year’s season of Married At First Sight have taken plenty of bold fashion risks. But perhaps the most daring move has been made by Awhina Rutene with her dinner party outfits. Viewers have noticed that the fan favourite bride, who is paired with Adrian Araouzou in the experiment, has worn the same style dress to the last three dinner parties.

She wore the BENNI Nico Off Shoulder Maxi Dress in black two weeks ago and aquamarine baby blue last week, and most recently wore the BENNI Yasmin Off Shoulder Mini Dress in cacao. Interestingly, Rhi Disljenkovic also wore the BENNI Yasmin Off Shoulder Maxi Dress in pistachio green to the second dinner party of the season. RELATED: Former MAFS bride Eden Harper , who was known as the fashion icon of last year’s season, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the reason why Awhina would’ve worn the same style dress to the dinner parties is because she used a dress hire service.

“I know that the hire company has that dress in every colour because it's really popular, so I think she's just grabbed it in all the colours,” she says. ‘And she looks great in it, so fair enough! it’s a nice dress too.” Why do participants hire their outfits on MAFS? Eden reveals that most of the brides on MAFS use a dress hire company for their dinner party outfits so they don’t have to spend an outrageous amount of money on new clothes.

“When you go on MAFS you have to supply all of your own outfits and do all of your own hair and makeup unless you can source something for yourself,” she details. “That's very expensive if you're going to nine dinner parties, seven commitment ceremonies, plus your day-to-day filming. “The day-to-day filming I think's okay because it's just your normal clothes, but I definitely didn't own like, 14 gowns to wear to the dinner parties.

And to buy them, I have expensive taste so it would have been a very expensive exercise.” Eden explains that the hire company lets participants wear the dresses at no cost in exchange for free promotion once the episode airs. They will also send out multiple different dresses for the producers to approve as the brides aren’t allowed to wear the same style or colour to the dinner party.

“The hire lady is really good to all of the girls on MAFS . Sometimes she'll send out five dresses and then we’ll just try them all on, send all the photos [to the producers for approval], and then we just wait until we’re allowed to wear it,” she continues. “I was pretty organised with my outfits.

I’d have them locked in four weeks in advance for all the dinner parties like, ‘No one else is wearing black that night, that’s my night’.” Is there a 'MAFS wardrobe'? The brides aren’t the only people on the show who rent their dinner party outfits, with many grooms also sourcing suits through a hire company. “I saw there were a lot of memes about Ryan [Donnelly] and Jayden [Eynaud] wearing the same gold jacket and all the comments were like, ‘It must be part of the MAFS wardrobe'.

There is no MAFS wardrobe,” Eden asserts. SHOP: “So they used their own eyesight and they picked that jacket and chose to wear it. By choice, they chose to wear that jacket.

It's not a MAFS wardrobe, they picked it from a website and wore it, which is diabolical.” Want the latest lifestyle and entertainment news? Make sure you are following us on Facebook , Instagram and TikTok and don't forget to subscribe to our newsletter..
