From the languishing meenakari practice that’s inspired by the religious establishments found along the Old Silk Route to the meticulous chikankari embroidery, a plethora of arts and crafts across the world have borrowed design cues from architecture. Whether through shapes, styles or silhouettes, Tarun Tahiliani , too, has immortalised architecture with his couture over the years. Now, Madhuri Dixit Nene is making a case for it in a metallic jumpsuit from his eponymous label.
Crafted using tulle , Madhuri Dixit Nene’s gold jumpsuit features intricate sequin embroidery. Its architectural motifs narrate the story of geodesic domes , trellis work and floral designs, mindfully interspersed on the bodice and the flared pants. The jumpsuit, with a plunging V-neckline adorned with crystals and cinched at the waist, perfectly emphasises the actor’s figure.
Sensual, versatile and timeless, it pays homage to the veteran couturier’s inimitable India Modern design ethos. Tahiliani reinforced his commitment towards architecture with another statement-making piece worn by Dixit Nene. In March 2023 for the opening night of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, the star chose a three-piece pale gold ensemble comprising a charmeuse gilet and tulle blouse and pants, all generously doused in a mélange of handwork embroidered with aari, zardozi, and pitta thread work.
At the 75th annual Cannes Film Festival , Pooja Hegde was spotted in the couturier’s tulle jumpsuit that featured tone-on-tone grid embroidery on arabesque motifs. While Dixit Nene’s gilded jumpsuit didn’t need more bells and whistles, she added further dazzle and colour to her look with her choice of jewels. She relied on diamond and emerald-encrusted earrings, bracelets and rings to accessorise her outfit.
Beauty-wise , she kept it effortless and elegant in a ponytail and soft glam.
