M3GAN 2.0 will pit the titular robotic diva against an even more dangerous killer robot, as the new trailer has revealed. Universal Studios released the full trailer for the upcoming tech horror sequel on Thursday after its debut at CinemaCon, and you can check it out below.
The new trailer reminds us of M3GAN’s previous crimes before revealing that a new version, Amelia, was created from M3GAN’s code. The problem: Amelia has gone rogue and is killing those related to her creation, which puts Gemma (Allison Williams) and Cady (Violet McGraw) in the crosshairs. The two team with Gemma’s old co-workers to resurrect M3GAN, setting up a battle described in the tagline as “This Bitch vs.
That Bitch” as well as some sequences that lean hard into the franchise’s intentionally-ridiculous nature. The new film is again directed Gerard Johnstone from a script by Akela Cooper and stars Williams, McGraw, Amie Donald, Brian Jordan Alvarez, and Jenna Davis as well as newcomers Ivanna Sakhno and Jermaine Clement. Releasing on June 27th, it is described as follows: Two years after M3GAN, a marvel of artificial intelligence, went rogue and embarked on a murderous (and impeccably choreographed) rampage and was subsequently destroyed, M3GAN’s creator Gemma (Allison Williams) has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of A.
I. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady (Violet McGraw), now 14, has become a teenager, rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective rules. Unbeknownst to them, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), the ultimate killer infiltration spy.
But as Amelia’s self-awareness increases, she becomes decidedly less interested in taking orders from humans. Or in keeping them around. With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN (Amie Donald, voiced by Jenna Davis) and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal.
As their paths collide, the original A.I bitch is about to meet her match..
