Ludhiana to soon get 2 more Schools of Eminence

Ludhiana: In the third phase of inauguration of Schools of Eminence (SoE) in the state, Ludhiana is ready with two more SoEs , as per a letter from the education department . Out of 13 such schools in Punjab, two will be opened in Ludhiana in Millerganj (Dholewal) and Kidvai Nagar (division No. 3).

The executive agency for construction of SoE Millerganj (Dholewal) is the public works department (PWD) and for SoE Kidwai Nagar (division No. 3) is the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT).On Saturday, MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi and deputy commissioner Sakshi Sawhney inspected the progress of the upcoming two Schools of Eminence (SOE) in Kidwai Nagar and Millerganj.



These SOEs will be equipped with smart classrooms, modern infrastructure, labs, CCTV surveillance, and playgrounds with facilities for various sports. The DC pointed out that the building work in both schools was almost completed, with only a few pending tasks. She instructed the officials to expedite the completion of SOEs.

The inspection was also attended by SDM East Vikas Hira, DEO Dimple Madaan, and officials from LIT, MC, and PWD. Admission is going on in the middle of sessions for non-SoE schools. Both SoE and non-SoE students will be taught in the same school for the meantime.

The teachers will have to work in shifts. At GSSS, Kidwai Nagar, there are around 460 SoE students studying in classes VI to XII, while 1,873 students are at the school in Millerganj, including non-SoE and SoE students. Talking to TOI, Ranjit Kaur, principal of SOE Kidwai Nagar (division No.

3), said , “All rooms of the new school building are almost completed. There are around 40 rooms in the new building. Partial electricity work is pending and wires are being installed.

” Meanwhile, Hardeep Kaur from SoE Millerganj (Dholewal) said, “The new school building in Millerganj has 22 rooms. Some will be converted into labs. However, gate is yet to be constructed.

A total of 26 SoE students have been counselled for Class IX, while 20 are studying in Class X and 52 in Class XII. The new SoE building is around 1.5km away from this school.

” The DC said, “The mission of the School of Eminence program aims to bring a revolution in the education sector for holistic development and bright future of the students.
