Ludhiana: A bodybuilder from the Dakha area ended his life after allegedly being ignored by his longtime girlfriend following his arrest in a drug-related case. The deceased, identified as Pawanpreet Singh from Mullanpur, reportedly recorded the act on video for social media before consuming a poisonous substance. Heartbreak after drug arrest Local sources said Pawanpreet had been in a relationship with the woman for nearly a decade and wished to marry her.
However, after his arrest in a drug-peddling case in 2023, she and her family severed ties with him. Following his release on bail, he allegedly tried to rekindle the relationship, but the woman's family refused his proposal. According to sources, on March 27, Pawanpreet visited the woman's house to propose but was turned away.
Undeterred, he returned on Saturday morning, only to be denied entry again. Distressed by the rejection, Pawanpreet allegedly went live on social media, consuming Celphos pesticide poison on camera. In the video, he reportedly warned against falling in love, saying he had done so and was now facing death.
Medical efforts and investigation After ingesting the poison, he was rushed to a private hospital in Ludhiana. As his condition worsened, doctors referred him to Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh, where he died on Sunday. Sub-inspector Jaswinder Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Sudhar police station, confirmed that the woman's family had lodged a harassment complaint against Pawanpreet on March 27.
The matter remains under investigation. MSID:: 119759336 413 | Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with EID Wishes , Messages and quotes !.
