Known for her lead role in Pretty Little Liars, Hale will headline and executive produce the psychological thriller, Deadline reported.

Cooper, the host of the podcast Call Her Daddy, is backing the project through her production company, Unwell Productions. Dead Letters is based on the 2017 novel by Caite Dolan-Leach of the same name. The project originated with Hale, who read and fell in love with the book.

The 35-year-old actress will take on dual roles in the series, portraying identical twin sisters Ava and Zelda. The show will explore the mystery surrounding Zelda’s sudden death which brings Ava back to their family vineyard. Once home, Ava begins uncovering secrets about the life her sister led and the people around her.

Zelda, who sensed she was in danger before her death, left behind a series of letters for Ava. Zelda’s cryptic and gut-wrenching “dead letters" send Ava into a search for the truth as she starts questioning everyone she ever trusted. Deadline described the series as “as an addictive mystery whodunit-meets-psychological thriller.
