Judging from the Hands Off demonstrations Saturday, one would think that President Trump had launched an unprecedented FBI raid on Joe Biden’s Wilmington, Del. home, snatching classified documents and his classy 1967 Corvette Stingray. One American president seeking to jail another, like in a banana republic? No wonder the demonstrators were so enraged.
It was a direct threat to democracy.Only it didn’t happen that way.It was President Joe Biden who launched the Aug.
8, 2022, raid on Trump at his Palm Beach Mar-a-Lago home, not the other way around. The raid was conducted by armed FBI agents, with the media in tow, allegedly in search of classified documents like the documents Biden had stored in boxes at his own house beside his garaged Corvette.Nothing like it had ever happened before in U.
S. history. But since it happened to Trump, the Democrats and the left-wing media thought it was just fine because the end justified the means.
The real intent was to destroy Trump; to put him behind bars so he could not run again for president. And if that meant weaponizing the U.S.
Justice Department so be it.And if that did not work there were progressive Democratic district attorneys and attorneys general ready to pile on to make his life miserable. But it did not work.
The people saw through it, and instead of landing in the Big House, Trump ended up in the White House.Think for one moment how the progressive Democrats would act if Trump raided Biden’s home. They would be doubling down on crazy.
But Joe Biden is gone, Attorney General Merrick Garland is gone and special prosecutor Jack Smith is gone, and gone with them is their mockery of the U.S justice system. And, in a footnote to the Mar-a-Lago incident, the FBI recently returned to Trump all the property it seized in the 2022 raid, although the story was ignored by the mainstream press.
Talk about things coming full circle. The bottom line is that no matter what Trump accomplishes as president— or for what he has already accomplished — he will never be credited by the Trump-hating progressives. This was made abundantly clear by the nationwide anti-Trump rallies held across the nation over the weekend at more than a thousand locations, from Boston to Boise.
In Boston alone thousands of anti-Trump and anti-Elon Musk demonstrators carrying signs gathered on the Boston Common and City Hall Plaza to make their feelings known. It was an impressive showing here and across the country. The problem was, however, that half the people demonstrating did not specifically know what they were demonstrating against, so they ended up demonstrating against everything that Trump was for.
This meant they opposed Trump closing the borders and deporting violent criminal illegal immigrants; opposed cutting waste, fraud and abuse in federal government; opposed bringing manufacturing plants and jobs back to the country through tariffs; opposed banning men in women’s sports, opposed voter ID and so on.What they are for is anybody’s guess.Despite the vast turnout, the anti-Trump progressives have failed to come up with a leader.
They have no bench, which is why they made such a big deal out of New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker talking gibberish for 25 hours in the Senate the other day. It will take more than talk to stop Trump.
It may take more demonstrations. But consider that Trump has been in office for only three months and has three years and nine months to go, even though some believe he must achieve his goals in two years before he becomes a lame duck.By that time the demonstrators may be exhausted anyway.
Or they may have jobs, like one of the millions of jobs Trump is returning to the good old USA.Peter Lucas is a veteran political reporter. Email him at: peter.

Lucas: Whatever Trump is for, protestors are against

Half the people demonstrating did not specifically know what they were demonstrating against, so they ended up demonstrating against everything that Trump was for.
