The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Philippine National Police (PNP) have urged motorists to stay calm on the road to prevent road rage. The two agencies' statements came on Wednesday, after a recent case of road rage in Antipolo City, which prompted netizens to post on social media other incidents of road rage. LTO chief Vigor Mendoza stressed the importance of patience and responsibility on the road.

He warned motorists about the repercussions and troubles of road rage. “Muli ay nagpapaalala tayo sa ating mga kababayang motorista na maging maingat, maging responsible at magbaon ng napakaraming pasensya kapag nasa kalsada. Marami na tayong naparusahan dahil sa road rage at marami na ang nasira ang buhay dahil sa road rage.

Lagi nating tatandaan na may pamilya tayong dapat buhayin, at may pamilya tayong naghihintay na laging umaasa at nananalangin na makauwi tayo ng maayos sa ating mga tahanan,” he said. The PNP similarly called out motorists to stay calm and safe. It emphasized the need to handle firearms responsibly to avoid road rage.

The PNP noted that increasing traffic congestion contributes to road rage. "Stay calm, stay safe! Avoid road rage and prioritize your safety. Remember to handle firearms responsibly and follow proper procedures.

The gun ban is now in effect," the national police said. It adding there will be more checkpoints that will be strengthened by the PNP Highway Patrol Group. "Report incidents and help us keep roads safe.

Let's work together for a safe and peaceful environment." the PNP added. The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption has expressed concern over the road rage incidents.

The group urged the government to strengthen gun safety regulations, including regular neuro-psychiatric tests for firearm owners. Meanwhile, the Department of Health on Wednesday said road safety is a public health issue that must be addressed to ensure safe roads for the public, especially children.
