Taylor was the third tight end off the board, following Michigan’s Colston Loveland and Penn State’s Tyler Warren in the first round. A three-year starter, Taylor ended his LSU career with the school records for the most receptions (129) and yards (1,308) by a tight end. He also caught six touchdowns and famously grabbed a 2-point conversion to beat Alabama in overtime as a freshman.

Taylor became the latest member of his family to reach the NFL. His dad, Jason Taylor, was a Hall of Fame defensive end after recording 139 1⁄2 career sacks. His uncle, Zach Thomas, also reached the Hall of Fame as a linebacker with the Miami Dolphins and the Dallas Cowboys.

Taylor was the second LSU player to get picked in the 2025 draft after offensive tackle Will Campbell went No. 4 overall to the New England Patriots. They will now play in the same division.
