LSU men’s basketball player Jalen Reed receives diagnosis about his knee injury

LSU men’s basketball’s Jalen Reed suffered a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season, the program announced on Wednesday.

The junior big man injured his right knee during LSU's 85-75 win over Florida State on Tuesday.

"We are devastated for Jalen as he has worked extremely hard in preparation for his junior year," LSU coach Matt McMahon said in a statement. "He is an absolute joy to coach and earned the role of captain from his teammates. We look forward to Jalen making a full recovery and continuing his successful basketball career.



" The 6-foot-10, 240-pound Reed injured himself after a successful layup with 18:23 left in the first half of LSU's game against Florida State. He fell to the floor and remained down. He eventually walked with assistance to the locker room with a noticeable limp.

Reed ends his season averaging 11.1 points on 60.4% field-goal shooting and 6.

5 rebounds per game. His best outing this season was a game where he had 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, 13 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in the Tigers' 109-102 triple-overtime win over Central Florida. Reed is one of the longest-tenured LSU players who was a part of McMahon’s first recruiting class in 2022.
