LS ELECTRIC and LS Cable & System have officially been recognized for their technological prowess with the receipt of the CES Innovation Award for their next-generation superconducting solution, "HyperGrid NX," ahead of the world's largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, CES 2025, scheduled to take place in Las Vegas in January 2025. On November 14 (local time in the U.S.

), LS ELECTRIC announced that "HyperGrid NX," developed through collaboration with LS Cable & System, received awards in the categories of Human Security Product and Smart Cities at the "CES Innovation Awards 2025." The CES Innovation Award is an esteemed accolade presented by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) at the CES exhibition, selecting globally leading innovative technologies and products. This award signifies that the innovative superconducting power system presented by the two companies has been recognized in the global market.

"HyperGrid NX" is a power supply system for data centers (IDCs) that combines LS ELECTRIC’s superconducting current limiter with LS Cable & System' superconducting cables. The superconducting current limiter from LS ELECTRIC is crucial in preventing damage to power facilities, electrical fires, and power outages by instantly blocking fault currents that occur during power system incidents, making it essential for protecting large advanced industrial equipment. The superconducting cable, first commercialized by LS Cable & System in 2019, maximizes transmission efficiency by utilizing the phenomenon of superconductivity, where electrical resistance disappears at low temperatures.

This superconducting cable can increase transmission capacity by over five times simply by replacing existing cables when additional power transmission is needed. HyperGrid NX can transmit large-capacity power at 154kV using a low voltage of 22.9kV, enabling a stable power supply without the need to construct additional substations in urban areas.

Additionally, it does not require transformers and can be designed to be about one-tenth the size of existing substations, offering excellent space efficiency and environmentally friendly characteristics as it does not generate electromagnetic waves. These features significantly enhance both economic viability and eco-friendliness while drastically improving space utilization. LS ELECTRIC and LS Cable & System anticipate that HyperGrid NX will be the optimal solution to meet the surging power demand of data centers securely.

The two companies plan to promote substantial business expansion targeting commercial data centers in domestic and international markets and AI training data centers, emphasizing economic feasibility, community acceptance, and power stability. "The superconducting solution born from the synergy of our innovative technologies is set to become a 'Killer Solution' for the LS Group," said an official from LS ELECTRIC. "With this CES Innovation Award, we aim to enter the global market leveraging our exceptional competitiveness in economic viability, community acceptance, and power stability.

" "The superconducting solution will become a crucial alternative for modernizing and expanding power transmission networks," said an official from LS Cable & System. "We plan to expand operations into international markets such as the U.S.

and Vietnam based on domestic achievements." This award is expected to serve as a stepping stone for LS ELECTRIC and LS Cable & System to further establish themselves as influential players in the global technology market through next-generation power solutions..
