AT LEAST 100 Under-12 (U-12) football players in Negros Occidental joined the football clinic hosted by Loyola Football Club Victorias in Victorias City on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Keith Buyco, co-owner of Loyola Football Club Victorias, said they invited several football clubs in Negros Occidental but limited the number of participants to just 100. “We just limit the number of the participants and we are very happy with the positive response from the young players here,” he said.

He added that their goal is to develop young talents in Negros Occidental. Buyco revealed that Loyola Football Club Victorias, which is composed of at least 20 players, is currently participating in the Philippines Football League (PFL) representing the province. He also revealed that they are likewise scouting players from schools across Negros Occidental as well as in Manila to join the club.

Recruitment “For now, our target is to recruit players from Negros Occidental. Since we are based here in Victorias City, we aim to have more Negrense players,” he added. Buyco further said some of their players are from Japan, Mongolia, Canada, Portugal and the Netherlands, as the PFL allows them to have at least five foreign players on the pitch.

In February, Victorias City Mayor Javier Benitez led the signing of a memorandum of agreement between Victorias City and Loyola Football Club, which is previously based in Palawan Province. Loyola Football Club Victorias head coach Roxy Dorlas said the team is currently ranked seven in the PFL and is striving to win its remaining games. He said their target is to secure a spot in the Top 4 following their recent loss to the Cebu Football Club on Saturday, March 29.

Dorlas, Buyco and players, including defender Aaron Vasquez, winger Curt Dixon, strikers Francis Tacardon and Paulo Gonzales and defender Leon Morimoto, expressed their gratitude to Mayor Benitez for supporting their club in representing Negros Occidental in the national tournament. / MAP.
