Love/Hate actor to star in new RTÉ murder-mystery series

Love/Hate actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor is set to star in a brand new RTÉ murder mystery series.

These Sacred Vows, begun filming in Tenerife today, is a six-part series about an Irish wedding abroad that gets out of hand when the priest is found dead in the swimming pool the morning after. Each episode will bring the viewer back in time as the story unravels from the perspective of each character. The show has been described as “dark, funny and emotionally sharp.

actor Jason O'Mara. Adam John Richardson, Tom Hanson, Jade Auguste, Aaron Heffernan, Aoife Hinds also star in the show alongside comedians Shane Daniel Byrne and Catherine Bohart. The show was created by award winning Irish writer and director John Butler and produced by Rob Walpole and Rebecca O'Flanagan from Irish independent production company Treasure Entertainment.

"Irish weddings are unique and uniquely mad,” Butler said in a press release about the show. “I love the idea of six interwoven films, all set in the same place, with each character experiencing the madness very differently." These Sacred Vows is set to air in 2026.

Since Love/Hate Vaughan-Lawlor has starred in a variety of TV shows such as Peaky Blinders, Dublin Murders and Say Nothing. He also played Ebony Maw in two Avengers movies: Infinity War and Endgame. The Dubliner is also set to star in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel to Game of Thrones, which is set to be released later this year.
