Louis Copeland: ‘I love being busy, I love dressing people. I will never retire – they’ll take me out in a box’

Tailor and retailer Louis Copeland grew up in Drumcondra, working in the family business from a young age. He lives in Churchtown with his wife Mary; they have three children, and eight grandchildren.

Tailor and retailer Louis Copeland grew up in Drumcondra, working in the family business from a young age. He lives in Churchtown with his wife Mary; they have three children, and eight grandchildren. ​ I didn’t go to secondary school .

I went to Parnell Square Technical School for tailoring and textiles. From probably the age of 10, I would have been getting the bus into Capel Street and going down to my father’s business, and would have worked there sweeping the floor and doing the dishes. And I’m still doing it.
