'Loud bangs': police investigate early morning fire in Bendigo bushland

Emergency services responded to a suspicious fire in California Gully early on Friday, December 20. or signup to continue reading Police and firefighters were called to Oswald Street about 1am after reports of loud bangs in nearby bushland. A tree was found on fire with several aerosol cans around the base, a police spokesperson said.

Crews from Eaglehawk CFA and Fire Rescue Victoria quickly brought a small grass fire under control, and the scene was declared safe at 1.13am. Police are investigating the incident.
