Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand inspired by golf opens in BGC

Malbon Golf, the Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand inspired by golf, has opened its flagship and biggest store in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig.Located at the ground floor of Shangri-La The Fort, this new retail space sells premium golf apparel, shoes, golf bags, and other accessories. What differentiates this brand from other brands is its approach to golf apparel. It sells coordinates in graphic prints, streetwear-style collaborations with brands like Coca-Cola and Budweiser, among others.“There were no brands that we felt comfortable wearing that we felt like ourselves in. When we would go shopping for golf apparel it was almost like wearing a costume that you're wearing a conservative costume and so we thought we can make clothes that we feel good in and if we feel like it's speaking to us then there's definitely more people that are like-minded and have the same ethos about golfing and having fun and not making it so serious,” explained co-founder Erica Malbon in an interview with GMA Lifestyle. While golf is still a niche sport in the country, the Philippines is actually a destination for the sport with enthusiasts coming from Japan and South Korea.Malbon is a popular brand in South Korea and is available in 60 shops in the East Asian country, according to Erica.“We have a large contingency of customers and fans in Korea but also from the rest of Asia and so as they come here to the Philippines. Besides having a local customer there's a lot of international people that are coming here to play golf so we wanted to give them an opportunity to shop,” she said. She also said that the brand is not exclusive to golf enthusiasts and players because its fashion forward clothes can be worn by anyone. The new store in BGC has two floors. The first floor is the main retail space where the global and local collections are displayed. There's also a sculpture by Filipino-American artist Jefrë in one corner of the space and a golf simulator for customers to try.The second floor, on the other hand, is exclusive to the brand's Buckets Club members --- basically a VIP lounge. The space, which features dark wood paneling and a carpeted floor, has retro vibes. This area is where they display limited edition apparel and collaborations for their club members.Take a look at photos from the store in the carousel below.
