Lorraine Kelly had two sweet words for Trisha Goddard, who is currently battling terminal cancer. The Scottish presenter, aged 64, wasn't focusing on TV personality Trisha's diagnosis during Wednesday's show but instead welcomed her to discuss the US election on ITV . Donald Trump had prematurely declared victory over Democratic leader Kamala Harris, and with Trisha residing in South Connecticut, she was perfectly placed to provide insight into the unfolding events stateside.
Despite Trisha's preference to keep the conversation away from her health and on the political analysis, Lorraine couldn't let her leave without expressing some kind words. Lorraine remarked: "Trisha thank you for your words of wisdom and you're looking really well," reports the Mirror . As the segment concluded, Lorraine added with warmth: "Stay healthy.
" In a light-hearted exchange, Trisha responded to Lorraine: "I will and I hope Donald Trump stays even healthier," which led to laughter between them. Earlier in the programme, Trisha shared that her home state had backed Kamala Harris, leaving her somewhat disheartened by Trump's premature declaration. Yet, she noted it wasn't "all bad" and cautioned viewers that things could have been worse, optimistically wishing Trump well: "I really wish Donald Trump the best of health.
" Trisha also mentioned the potential implications for America if something were to happen to Trump, saying: "God forbid anything happened to him because America would have JD Vance." The 66 year-old icon expressed her fears that America could be in a worse position if JD Vance were to ever get into power, warning: "You ain't seen nothing yet if JD Vance gets in." In 2008, Trisha was diagnosed with breast cancer and later received the all clear.
However, in February of this year, her worst fears were realised when doctors discovered incurable secondary cancer cells in her hip following a fall. The Dancing On Ice star initially kept her diagnosis under wraps, continuing with her life and CNN job in the US while privately undergoing chemotherapy. After suffering a nose bleed at work, she decided to reveal her condition as it had become too much of a burden to conceal.
Speaking to Hello! Magazine, the mother-of-two opened up about why she kept her diagnosis quiet for so long, explaining that she didn't want to be a "poster girl for cancer". The TV star simply didn't want to attract that kind of attention or people commenting things like "she looks good, (considering she has cancer)." Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am, on itv1.
