Viewers of Lorraine were in for a shocking start this morning when an unexpected alarm rang throughout the studio. With Christine Lampard steering the show today, the Irish presenter was forced to cut off the broadcast when a sudden alert threw everyone into disarray. Christine announced over the din: "I've just been informed there's intruders in the building," as alarms blared during the live show and the doors slid open behind her.
However, it turned out the interruption was all part of the act - light-hearted fun with a focus on festive telly recommendations. Emerging through the doors were mysterious figures donning red jumpsuits and masks bearing distinctive shapes, characters from Netflix's hit Squid Game, which is set to premiere its much-anticipated second season. Substituting for Lorraine Kelly once more, Christine took the reins whilst Lorraine takes her Christmas break from her eponymous programme.
Lorraine, 65, hosted a Christmas Day special on ITV1. The festive show included soap legend and Coronation Street star Jane Danson , music star and social media sensation KSI and a pre-recorded interview with Hollywood icon, Katy Perry . Continuing the show's usual routine, Lorraine was also joined by show regulars Dr Hilary, Dr Amir and Mark Heyes, plus, a sprinkling of Hollywood glamour from showbiz guru Ross King.
Not only this, but viewers also witnessed Lorraine partake in a festive performance with Scottish singer Marti Pellow and the Change + Check Choir. Back in September, Lorraine shared the joy of becoming a grandparent for the first time after her daughter Rosie gave birth. Taking to Instagram , Lorraine told fans how excited she was.
She wrote: "I have been BURSTING to share this wonderful news with you! Baby Billie is an angel and I’m so proud of @rosiekellysmith and @stevewhite94 who will be the best parents. I’m delighted to be Granny Smith and can’t wait to go on adventures. #love #joy #happiness #family.
