If you are looking for a quiet spot for a winter staycation in , the Warren House might be something a bit different. The house is on top of a hill that overlooks Kimbolton Castle but is still close enough to the town if you want to explore the area. The building was restored in 2011 and now has a double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and a lounge area on the first floor.
There is also a small kitchen that is already stocked with cooking equipment and a balcony that looks out onto the valley. The Warren House was built in the 17th century to house a warrener to guard the rabbits that lived on the surrounding land. The rabbits were valuable livestock, as they could be sold for both their meat and skins, so the warrener would also use the lodgings for hunting.
The building has timber framing, of which very few homes have without being altered, making the house quite unique. The house is dog friendly and there are two parking spaces close by. The town of Kimbolton can be accessed by car or by walking.
The area has a few pubs to try out, including the New Sun Inn and the Coach House, which you can visit after enjoying a nature walk. The Warren House is looked after by the Landmark Trust, who rent it out to people looking for somewhere to stay for a short break. If you want to find out more information about the building or want to make a reservation to stay there, you can visit the Landmark Trust website .
