April 15 Belfast rap, live Perhaps you saw the 2024 movie “Kneecap,” which chronicled the fast rise of a rap trio from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who put their anger at British rule and everything else into an in-your-face stage show. The group Kneecap is real, and performing live in North America — with a tour stop Tuesday at The Depot , 13 N. 400 West, Salt Lake City.

Main, Salt Lake City. The national touring production of “Wicked” opens there on Wednesday, a five-week run that concludes on May 25. This is the prequel to “The Wizard of Oz,” about the college-age friendship and rivalry between Glinda, in training to be a good witch, and Elphaba, the green-skinned outcast with real magic powers.

April 17 Practicing for ‘The Big One’ Odds are that Utah will not experience an earthquake Thursday at 10:15 a.m. — though the Wasatch Fault Zone has a “significant probability” of a major tremor in the next 50 years, so you never know.
The state’s Division of Emergency Management is inviting Utahns to pretend it’s happening at that time, for the state’s largest earthquake drill, the annual Great Utah ShakeOut. The protocol is summed up simply as “drop, cover and hold on.” People, families, businesses, schools and organizations are encouraged to register for the drill online at ShakeOut.

April 18-19 Ririe-Woodbury aims to ‘Re-Act’ Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company ’s new show, “Re-Act,” features the world premiere of a work by choreographer Annalee Traylor — the first selected artist in R-W’s new initiative, Choreographic Canvas. The other half of the program is “From Code to Universe,” choreographed by the company’s artistic director, Daniel Sharon, co-created by Alexandra Harbold.
