Two superpowers in the world of pop music have finally ended their cold war. Madonna, who has sold more records than any other female artist, and Elton John, who has sole over 300 million recordings, “buried the hatchet” after Madonna went to see John perform during “Saturday Night Live” last weekend. Madonna said in a post on social media the performance reminded her of when she snuck out of her home while she was in high school to see John in concert in Detroit.
But the two superstars had been feuding for more than 20 years after John accused Madonna of lip-syncing during live performances in 2004. She writes she decided to seek out John, 78, during his “SNL” appearance in an attempt to bring closure. “Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist,” Madonna writes.
“I didn’t understand it. I was told Elton John was the musical guest on ‘SNL’ and I decided to go. I needed to go backstage and confront him.
“When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, ‘Forgive Me’ and the wall between us fell down,” Madonna, 66, writes. “Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes.
We were hugging. Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. “It was like everything came full circle!! And you can tell everybody, This is Your Song.
” The post includes a photo of the two superstars embracing. Singer Brandi Carlile, who appeared with John on “SNL,” wrote in Madonna’s comments section: “Whatever happens to this country the gays won today, folks.”.
