Longmont’s TinkerMill makerspace to mark winter solstice on Saturday

The makerspace will host "Astronomy on the Sidewalk" at Fifth Avenue and Main Street from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

TinkerMill invites the community to celebrate the shortest day of the year in downtown Longmont on Saturday. The makerspace will host “Astronomy on the Sidewalk” at Fifth Avenue and Main Street from 11 a.m.

to 7 p.m. TinkerMill members will set up telescopes for stargazing, with views of Jupiter, Saturn and Venus expected.



Members will also debut a “social solar scope,” which lets people see a live image of the sun on their phones. Downtown Longmont businesses will also have food and drink specials on Saturday as part of the winter solstice celebration..
