Lone, others present fresh 370 resolution

In the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Peoples Conference chief Sajad Lone and four other MLAs introduced a resolution for the restoration of Article 370 and 35A. Lone emphasized the need for a strong response to the 2019 abrogation, calling for measures commensurate with the perceived injustices. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather deferred an immediate decision on the resolution.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather said he would take a decision on the matter later. Lone had earlier accused the Omar-led NC govt of colluding with BJP and getting the assembly to pass a “watered-down” resolution on revival of special status.

On Friday, Lone stressed that the assembly’s response to the abrogation of Aug 5, 2019, should be “commensurate” with the “wrongs” inflicted that day. The others who joined Lone in presenting the fresh resolution were PDP’s Waheed Parra and Fayaz Mir, and Independent MLAs Khurshid Sheikh and Shabir Kullay. Khurshid is the brother of jailed Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid.
