THATTA - The Mirpur Sakro Police in Thatta district has displayed utter negligence by failing to trace the suspects involved in the theft of a power generator, cables, and other electric equipment stolen from a community center used by the Ismaili community for funeral prayers and other activities in village Muhammad Abad of district Thatta. According to credible sources within the community, a group of thieves reportedly broke into the community center on the night of April 13-14 and stole a generator, cables, and electric equipment by breaking open the storage room door. Local community leaders promptly lodged a report with the police station and met with SSP Thatta, Dr.
Imran Khan, who directed the SHO of Mirpur Sakro Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation and apprehend the culprits. However, despite the district police chief’s directions, the local police remains clueless about the suspects involved in the incident. Incidents of snatching and robbery are routine in the remote areas of Thatta district, mainly Mirpur Sakro Taluka. Muhammad Iqbal disclosed that the vicinity where the theft was committed had been used for productive activities and community development, but the local police failed to provide protection to the people and their properties. A villager, Sikander Ali, claimed that they had extended their complete cooperation regarding the incident, yet the police seemed reluctant to make any progress.
When contacted, SHO Azhar Channa evaded sharing details about the matter. Furthermore, a police official, requesting anonymity, revealed that the group of thieves involved in such incidents had the backing of influential figures in the area, making it difficult for the police to apprehend them. Social activist Ali Nawaz Badai disclosed that a police constable was deprived of his motorcycle a couple of days ago, but the, SHO-Station House Officer Mirpur Sakro had failed to take action against the culprits.
In another incident, two primary school teachers were beaten black and blue while resisting a robbery attempt.
