Anzac flags feature the images of eight local women who played a role during wartime.

The eight women who feature on our ANZAC flags are Gwendoline Gregory from Bexley, Gwendolen Cohen from Ramsgate, Eileen Fazakerley from Bexley, Elsie Barker from Botany, Ruby Beard from Sans Souci, Nancy Cartwright from Eastlakes, Nita Hayes from Brighton-Le-Sands and Lilian Brennan from Botany.

More details of these women and their service can be found on Council's website. Bayside Council's local history team is also working on a series of projects focusing on women's contribution during war time to enhance the council's local history collection and ensure these remarkable women are remembered. The collected information will be preserved for further research, educational programs, and museum exhibitions, and will be accessible to the community, providing valuable insights into their role and impact on these pivotal times in history.
