Chris Kupori, 43, a person living with disability in Aitape in West Sepik, is known to many for his engagement in the local SME in Aitape. Mr Kupori graduated with a National Conventional Certificate (NC) in Business Studies at the Aitape Vocational Training Institute in 2019. With his National Certificate in Business Studies, he pursued employment in 2020, but unfortunately, there was no job opportunity for him in Aitape.

Mr Kupori said he specializes in Secretarial Duties, and he can hardly find secretarial jobs in Aitape. Chris’ engagement with the local SME begins in mid-2020 after unsuccessful job searches. He sells items like razor blades, matches, newspapers, and smoke around Aitape on his wheelchair.

Kupori said his main obstacle is the lack of capital to start up a small business in Aitape. He encouraged all persons living with disabilities to rise up, think positively about their lives, and most importantly, join the local SME. “Sell market products, and you will have money for food, clothing, and shelter and a better life,” he said Chris Kupori is from Ningian village in the Inland Aitape West LLG of West Sepik.
