AKRON, N.Y. — Buffalo is considered the city of good neighbors and that sentiment extends across all of Western New York, and it's not just people that we look after, but our four-legged friends are neighbors too.
RELATED: Let's Goat Buffalo collecting Christmas tree donations Around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the Newstead Fire Company was asked to help a local equestrian center for a 29-year-old horse that was unable to get up because of ice.
The horse had been on the ground for around 30 minutes before fire crews arrived. The fire company shared a post on Facebook, detailing the rescue, which reads in part: "Due to the cold conditions and the age of the horse, Newstead firefighters had to act quickly. Thanks to the quick actions of our members we were able to get the horse back on its feet and into the warmth of its home," the fire company said.
