LOCAL COLLEGE: Keystone picks up nonleague win over Misericordia

DALLAS — Carlos Pascual had three hits, two RBIs and scored twice to lead Keystone over Misericordia, 8-3, on Tuesday afternoon in nonconference college baseball. Sean Brennan pitched the first seven innings, allowing three hits and two runs to pick up the win and move to 5-0 on the season. He struck out eight and walked four. Jack Regenye and Joe Peters each had a double for Misericordia.



Josh Burger had a single. Wilkes 5, Scranton 3: At Volpe Field, Wilkes scored two 12th-inning runs off a wild pitch and an error, as the Colonels defeated Scranton in extra innings. Nathan Loch paced Wilkes with three hits, and Jacob Cambria added two hits.

Jake Elston had three hits for Scranton, while Aidan Casey and John Heitzman each added two. Caleb Graham earned the win, striking out four batters over 4 1/3 innings of relief. Scranton starter Chris Correll struck out four batters over 4 1/3 innings of work, and Matt Scepowski was dealt the loss after an inning of relief.

King’s 22, Penn State Scranton 5: In Dunmore, Owen Kosar had four hits, including a home run, and scored four runs to lead King’s. Zach Day added three hits and three RBIs for the Monarchs. Kevin Kullman, Zach Jenkins and Owen Ness each had two hits for King’s.

Connor Reynolds pitched 4 1/3 innings to pick up the win in the seven-inning game. Cameron Connelly had a single and two RBIs for Penn State Scranton. Dylan Quinn had a double.

Men’s lacrosse Misericordia 19, King’s 1: Misericordia led by six goals after one quarter and 14-0 at the half on its way to a win over King’s. Connor Bevan led Misericordia with five goals, while Jared Pellicciione scored three. Brendan Stanley and Connor Gundersen scored twice for the Cougars.

John Wall had a fourth-quarter goal for King’s. Golf JP Gilroy, Brendan Percey and Alexander Ray all carded career-low rounds to lead the King’s College men’s golf team in their spring home opener at Wyoming Valley Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. The Monarchs finished third with a round of 334 as the University of Scranton took first with a score of 300, and Misericordia University split the match with a team finish of 331.

Gilroy tied for third with a career-low round of 75. Percey recorded a career-low round of 83 to tie for eighth, while Ray carded a career-best score of 87. Scranton took the top two spots as Danny Harding led all players with a round of 71.

Misericordia was led by Brett Herman and Cameron Purrington, who tied for fifth with a round of 79..
