Llandudno Pier store owners 'don’t think they will be open before Christmas'

The owners of a store on Llandudno Pier which was damaged by Storm Darragh have said they "don’t think they will be open before Christmas".

THE OWNERS of a store on Llandudno Pier which was damaged by Storm Darragh have said they "don’t think they will be open before Christmas". The Crystal Hut, which also has stores in Clonmel Street, Llandudno and Chester, as Storm Darragh devastated the town's famous pier. Two units, including , were swept away by winds up to 90mph.

The Crystal Hut co-owner Kris Meredith said the pier would not reopen "for sometime", with his own business unlikely to open by Christmas. "[The pier reopening] won’t be for sometime I feel, we’ve still not had anything official," Kris told . "It’s not safe near our hut - there is no water too, large damage to the male toilets and we will need our roof repairing - so I don’t think we will be open before Christmas unfortunately.



" The Crystal Hut's electricity, as well as its bright pink light, are back on, with Kris saying it was "reassuring to see it shining bright". He added: "Our electric has been put back on, which is a step in the right direction. "It was quite emotional last night seeing our pink Crystal Hut sign shining bright.

"It’s like a beacon of hope, that all will be ok, and it’s very reassuring to see it shining bright on our home of Llandudno Pier." Kris, who runs the business with partner Paul Hales, said the closure of the hut had "shattered" their build up to Christmas and was a "major loss" for the business. A to Llandudno Pier has been set up by Tir Prince Leisure Group, aiming to raise a total sum of £250,000.
