Liverpool news as Trent Alexander-Arnold has expressed a significant interest in taking over at Ligue 1 outfit FC Nantes after talks over the summer Trent Alexander-Arnold has submitted a bid to take over FC Nantes, according to reports. The 25-year-old has been subject to transfer speculation of recent late with his Liverpool contract running out next summer. Real Madrid have emerged as contenders to sign the England right-back, with Los Blancos viewing him as a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal according to recent reports.

Alexander-Arnold has started in each of Liverpool's first five matches under Arne Slot and hasn't let the uncertainty surrounding his future effect him. But now, it has emerged that Alexander-Arnold has set his sights on buying a French football club. According to L'Equipe , the Liverpool defender, alongside a private investment fund, is interested in Nantes, who currently owned by French businessman Waldemar Kita.



Alexander-Arnold and his father, Michael, had held talks with the club hierarchy remotely in the summer before meeting in person more recently. It's said that Alexander-Arnold's proposal, alongside the investment fund, for the club stands at €100million (£84m): €80m upfront with a further €20m down the line plus a potential €40m in bonuses. A third meeting between Nantes and Alexander-Arnold took place in London on Thursday, where it's claimed the proposed financials did not meet Kita's valuation.

Kita is understood to be 'furious' that Alexander-Arnold's interest has been leaked and has since denied the reports. Alexander-Arnold is claimed to have considered purchasing AS Saint-Etienne and Le Havre before choosing to proceed with his offer for Nantes, who have won seven French league titles. Alexander-Arnold is already a minority shareholder at Formula 1 team Alpine.

As for his Liverpool future, some supporters are concerned that Alexander-Arnold is into the final 12 months of his contract but expressed his excitement over working under Arne Slot after Tuesday's win at AC Milan. "For me, it was just an excitement to work under a new manager that I’ve never had before," Alexander-Arnold said. "Having spoken to the manager, I was excited about the plans and the way they talk about it.
