Liverpool have a golden opportunity to take an eight point lead at the top of the Premier League when they face Southampton later today. Arne Slot's side are currently five points clear of defending champions Manchester City , who were thrashed 4-0 by Tottenham yesterday, and will increase that lead to eight points if they can beat bottom of the league Southampton. Liverpool have lost just one game across all competitions so far this season and they are overwhelming favourites to continue their excellent form against the Saints.

With that said, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the news surrounding the club. Salah urges Liverpool to make transfer According to BILD, Mohamed Salah has urged Liverpool to sign his international teammate Omar Marmoush. Marmoush has starred for Eintracht Frankfurt so far this season, netting 14 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions, and the report states that the club have slapped a £50million price tag on the forward.

It is also claimed that Salah has personally made a case for Liverpool to sign the 25-year-old, who is said to be attracting interest from a number of clubs including Bayern Munich . Slot sends title warning Arne Slot has warned Liverpool not to get carried away with their lead in the Premier League title race. Liverpool entered the weekend with a five-point advantage over defending champions Manchester City , but Slot has sent a warning to his players.

"We are all aware of the fact we are only 11 games into the season and will not get carried away," he said. "It is not like this is the first time in Liverpool history we have been top of the league. I don’t think the owners will get carried away.

I am for sure not getting carried away, and the players will not as well." Salah told he's not world class Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has claimed Salah is not world class , despite his stunning goalscoring record at Liverpool. Salah has been the club's top scorer every year he since joining, but Deeney does not believe he should be considered world class.

"The Liverpool player is a brilliant winger, his goalscoring numbers are incredible and he has achieved some truly amazing things at the club," he said in The Sun . "But world class? No. I was on the end of loads of drubbings at Watford when Salah was amazing for Liverpool.

But when we prepared to face them, it was not just a case of 'stop Salah and you win'. It was a lot harder when they also had Sadio Mane in the side who, in my opinion, was more effective over that period than Salah."
