Liverpool will be hoping to continue their excellent run of form when they return to action after the international break. The Reds currently sit top of the Premier League , with a healthy five point lead over defending champions Manchester City . They also top the Champions League's new 36-team league phase, having won all four of their games so far.

And new boss Arne Slot will be hopeful his star players will return unscathed from international duty ahead of their upcoming clashes against Southampton , Real Madrid and City. With all that in mind, here's the latest news involving those from Anfield. Slot's major change Alexis Mac Allister has opened up about life under Slot, insisting Liverpool remain in a "transitional period" despite their excellent start to the season.

"I think we're in that transitional period," Mac Allister explained. "We were used to being very direct and perhaps played more long balls and nowadays with the new coach, the idea is completely different, and we are working on being more patient, to have longer periods in possession so that the games aren't as end-to-end so that we can dominate them. "I think that was kind of the mistake we made in the Premier League game against Nottingham Forest , which cost us the match.

But like I said, we are in a transitional period. Jurgen was here for eight years so it's not so easy to change that playing style but that’s what we're working on, and I think we're doing it very well." Kelleher warning Caoimhin Kelleher has starred for Liverpool while deputising for Alisson, who has been out of action with a hamstring injury since last month.

The Brazilian is closing in on a return to action and Slot has stated he will come straight back into the team. However, Slot has been told that he would be dropping a potentially world class goalkeeper in Kelleher in order to facilitate Alisson's return. "I think in five or six years he is going to be in the top one or two goalkeepers in the world ," former Ireland striker Kevin Doyle said on RTE.

"He's that good at everything he does. He has got everything in the locker. He ticks every box.

If he can get himself playing I feel he's going to be the top man." Salah drops contract hint Mohamed Salah has shared a fresh hint about his future at the club, admitting "everybody will leave one day". Speaking alongside teammates Alisson and Andy Robertson, Salah admitted: "The thing I appreciate the most is the time when I go every morning, and I see the guys, and we share, like, unbelievable moments.

"Especially us three plus Virg and Trent, the senior group. Because when Bobby left, for example, you just realised that everybody will leave one day. So you always.

.. I don't take that for granted.
