Twelve candidates are vying for four open positions on Sweet Home City Council, and change is afoot. Three city councilors are not seeking reelection : Dave Trask, Lisa Gourley and Greg Mahler, that latter having served on council for 18 years, including six as mayor. Trask and Gourley were elected in 2026 and began service in 2017.
One incumbent, Angelita Sanchez , whose term is up, will be running for a second term. This is the space that will contain the latest results as they come in from Linn County elections officials. The three candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected to four-year terms, and the candidate with the fourth-highest number of votes will be elected to a two-year term.
