Billy Horschel, the American golf star, doesn't seem to be eyeing a shift to LIV Golf any time soon. He's been throwing shade at the Saudi-backed circuit after a year that saw him make history on European turf . In September, at the BMW Championship at Wentworth, he notched an epic win by sinking an eagle putt that outplayed Rory McIlroy in a thrilling playoff, making him the first American to clinch the title twice.
Horschel, who plays the majority of his golf on the PGA Tour , has dabbled in the DP World Tour this year, having played in seven events by 2024. Now, he's gearing up for the DP World Tour Championship, standing fourth in the Race to Dubai rankings.
Before the event, Horschel declared his feelings about the LIV hierarchy at Tuesday's press conference: "I support this tour, and I love this tour," he proclaimed. "I think the world of this tour. But at the same time, I don't support this tour 20-plus events out of the year.
" He added, "Obviously the PGA Tour is where I play mostly but I want to make sure that these guys understand how special this tour is, how special I think it is, and then what I think of them as golfers. I think they are really great players out here." Horschel subtly snubbed LIV Golf while singing praises of another tour: "I think it's honestly – and quality and talent-wise, I think it's the second best tour in the world, and you see it on a regular basis.
"And the more I come over here the more, I'm impressed by the way these guys play on TV, I always have but when you see it in person you get a better perspective of the players." Don't miss..
