The North School Lions basketball team face the John Roan School, Greenwich at home on Wednesday with more than just the game on the line. Victory would see Ashford-based North win the Association of Colleges South East Men’s Division and cement the legacy of the Lions’ graduating seniors, Kai Guthrie-Turay, Harry Terry, Tom Johnson, Anita Kadiri, Rehan Rai, Ralfs Aboms and Daniel Pawley. The North School’s star shooting guard, Terry, who has been with the Lions’ varsity team from freshman to senior year, said: “[The] game is going to be huge for us.
Playing for a championship in the final game of the season is something every team hopes to be able to do. “I’m incredibly proud of everything this team has been able to accomplish this season. As my playing career with the Lions comes to an end, I hope that next season’s team will be able to build upon the successes of this year, and that I am able to take my skills and experience to the university level.
” From launch back in 2010, Lions have one of the leading academies for harnessing talent, with a number of students winning university scholarships in Europe and the United States. Head coach Andrew Sunderland said: “The heritage of Lions basketball is truly special. We have had exceptional young men and women go through the program over the last 15 years and their accomplishments, both on and off of the court, are at the core of what drives us every day.
“The class of 2025 have already written their own incredible chapter in our history books and I am immensely proud of them. Now they have a chance to end it with, arguably, our most significant championship to date. “Whatever happens, I can’t think of a better way for them to end their careers here.
