Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone left Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion. Before leaving late in the fourth quarter, Anzalone made four tackles (three solo) in the 20-16 loss to the Buccaneers in Week 2. It'll be worth monitoring this week to see if Anzalone will miss the Lions' Week 3 road matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

It would be a crucial blow for a defense up against Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. If the 29-year-old misses time, Malcolm Rodriguez will be the next man up for the middle linebacker position. Last week in Detroit's 26-20 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Rams, Anzalone led the Lions with 13 stops (10 solo).

He also racked up 13 total tackles including three tackles for a loss. The performance makes Anzalone the only Lion to ever have at least 10 tackles and 3 TFLs in a season opener and only the eighth NFL player to do so since TFLs became an officially tracked statistic in 1994. Anzalone has developed into a key leader for Detroit’s defense.

He’s improved every single year in the Motor City is in his fourth season with the Lions. Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK.
