More info Line of Duty and Trigger Point star Vicky McClure made a rare public appearance with her husband Jonny Owen at the premiere of the Robbie Williams biopic Better Man on Wednesday 27 November.
The couple were joined by celebrities including Holly Willoughby , Nicole Appleton , and Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field at the event that celebrated the upcoming release of the quirky movie, in which Robbie’s role is played by a CGI chimpanzee. Vicky and Jonny married in August 2023 , after 10 years together. The couple, who had been engaged since Christmas 2017, married in a ceremony at the Council House in Nottingham, and held an evening party at the Metronome in the city, with many famous faces in attendance.
Vicky’s Line of Duty co-stars Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston, Craig Parkinson and writer Jed Mercurio were there, along with TV host Paddy McGuinness, film director Shane Meadows and This Is England star Thomas Turgoose. Vicky has been seen more recently with her Line of Duty costars , leading fans to beg for a new season of the hugely popular police drama. Martin, Vicky and Adrian had a mini reunion of sorts at the end of October, with Martin sharing a video on social media of the trio in a brightly lit rickshaw.
In the clip, Martin, 40, Vicky and Adrian could be singing and dancing along to Tom Santa's version of Shackles (Praise You). As they belted out the lyrics, the group appeared to be in good spirits as they laughed and joked - with Martin filming all of the action for his Instagram. While at one point Adrian requested that the Vengaboys were to be played, Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive came on at one point instead.
As they travelled around, Martin spotted some police vans in one street, causing him to exclaim: ‘Yellow notice! Yellow notice!” Captioning the fun video, Martin wrote: “AC12 oot and aboot” in reference to Line Of Duty’s fictional department, Anti Corruption Unit 12. Fans loved the clip, and demanded the three reunite properly on screen. “The best trio of police series in the world!!! Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the donkey,” one joked.
“Ahhh the best trio! Hope to see you all back on our screens as AC-12 one day,” another wrote. “OMFG this is amazing so good to see the team back together,” a third wrote. “Oh my god please tell us this is the beginning of a new series,” a fourth commented.
Line of Duty began on BBC Two in 2012, and after three successful series the show moved to BBC One. There have been six series in total, with the most recent broadcast in 2021. Earlier this year, Martin Compston confirmed to the Mirror that there was no plan for a seventh series.
"I'm sorry. They're some of my closest friends, we all love Jed [Mercurio], and we'd all love to work together at some point, but there are no immediate plans,” he said. “It's just getting us all together and stuff.
We'd like to but, yeah, these things are a bit complicated. But there are no immediate plans.".
