Lincoln Center’s ‘Summer for the City’ Returns With Performances by Anthony Roth Costanzo & Julia Bullock

The Lincoln Center’s “Summer for the City” program returns this summer.Only classical vocal events are featured in this article. Events are all free and pay-what-you-choose.

The American Modern Opera Company presents a fusion of Monteverdi’s “The Coronation of Poppea” with W.E.B.



Du Bois’s short story “The Comet” as part of the Run AMOC Festival. Performers include Anthony Roth Costanzo, Victoria Randem, Davóne Tines, Kiera Duffy, Evan Hughes, Amanda Lynn Bottoms, Whitney Morrison, and Joelle Lamarre. Marc Lowenstein is the musical director and Yuval Sharon serves as stage director.

”Performance Date: July 2, 2025 (David Rubenstein Atrium)Matthew Aucoin’s “Music for New Bodies” makes its New York premiere with soprano Meryl Dominguez, mezzo-soprano Taylor Raven, and tenor Paul Appleby. Peter Sellars directs and the composer conducts. This performance marks the first collaboration between the Run AMOC Festival, Sellars, and Aucoin.

Performance Dates: July 10-12, 2025 (David Geffen Hall)Soprano Ariadne Greif, countertenor Chuanyuan Liu, and tenor Paul Appleby star in Doug Balliet’s “Rome is Falling.” Julia Eichten is the stage director and Matthew Aucoin conducts. This event is part of the Run AMOC Festival.

Performance Date: July 13, 2025 (Alice Tully Hall)The American Modern Opera Company presents Anthony Cheung’s “the echoing of tenses,” a large-scale song cycle for tenor, violin, piano/keyboard, and pre-recorded sounds. The text is set to works by Asian-American poets. Paul Appleby is joined by violinist Miranda Cuckson, and the composer at the piano.
