THE Munster Council in conjunction with Central Council approved a fund over €1.3M for Club Development Grants, which will cover capital grant works in clubs in Munster for 2024. Limerick clubs received €254,767, which will be divided out between 22 clubs across the county.
Cork gained the most funding out of all the counties in Munster getting €404,748. Ahane were the Limerick club that gained the most funding out of all the Treaty clubs getting €40,700, with the lowest figure of €700 going to Croagh-Kilfinny. The clubs that got funding from the Munster council included Monaleen, Newcastle West, St Patricks, Ballybrown, Ballylanders, Claughaun, Effin, Knockaderry, St Kierans, Ahane, Crecora, Garryspillane, Murroe Boher, Oola, Rathkeale, St Senans, Askeaton, Croom, Castletown Ballyagran, Rathkeale, Askeaton Ballysteen and Croagh Kilfinny.
The Council agreed a budget of €1,362,520 for the grant scheme. €1,000,500 is donated by Central Council and the remaining €362,020 is contributed by the Munster Council. The Munster Council and the Central Council allocation funds category 1 – land purchase, category 2 – dressing room and gym developments, category 3 – refurbishment of handball courts and; category 4 – pitch development, floodlighting and hurling wall developments.
Munster GAA Chairman Ger Ryan said “I am delighted to announce the awarding of over €1.3 million in grants supporting 96 development projects throughout Munster. These grants have supported an impressive range of capital development projects, with Clubs investing over €10 million in upgrading their facilities.
