North Munster Schools Cross Country HOSTED by Salesians College, Pallaskenry the more familiar club singlets were swapped for those of schools. The schools were certainly not let down by some excellent performances. Ellen Goggin, of Crescent College Comprehensive, an Irish under 15 soccer international claimed top prize in the Intermediate Girls race.

She was followed in third by Dooneen clubmate Ella Grace Osborne who took an excellent strong third for Laurel Hill Cholaiste. Such is the standard that Darragh Whelan has set that his victory for Castletroy in the Junior Boys was expected with schoolmate John Farrell in fifth. At senior level, Alan McCutcheon, of Crescent College Comprehensive, ran brilliantly to take the bronze medal about 20 seconds behind the winner.



He was followed in fourth by Jack Crowley, of Limerick Educate Together, about a further 40 seconds behind. Other notable Limerick highlights included a team victory for the hosts Salesians in the Junior Boys with Sean Coleman fifth, Adam O’Driscoll seventh, Cormac Harty 10th and Matthew Nestor 12th securing top spot. In the Junior Girls competiton, Tiyaa Coughlan was sixth Junior Girl for Castletroy.

The Mungret duo of Aisling O’Kelly and Katie Keogh were eighth and 10th Minor Girls respectively. Danny O’Brien, of Desmond College Newcastle West, was ninth Minor Boy. At Intermediate, Sean Coleman was fifth for the hosts Salesians.

Well done and wishing you all the best in the Munster Senior Championships in Tramore this week. Munster Senior, Masters, U20 and Junior Indoor Track and Field Championships Taking place in Nenagh on the St. Brigit’s Bank holiday there was a sack full of medals for Limerick as athletes young and old shone.

Senior, U20 and Junior Dooneen’s Maeve Purtill took silver in the Junior High Jump (1.60m) and was fourth Junior in the 200m (26.25).

Destiny Lawal won gold in the Junior 200m (26.02) and bronze in the Junior 60m (7.84).

There was a ‘triple’ for Leagh Moloney who gold in Senior and U20 & Triple Jump (10.97mtrs), plus silver in the Junior 60m Hurdles (10.01) and also silver in the Junior Long Jump (5.

30m). Masters Irish International Shane O’Sullivan was a double winner in the M40 400m (55.6) & 200m (25.

National Juvenile B Cross Country, Westport The long trip west was worthwhile for Jack Redmond, of Limerick AC, who was second in the U11 Boys followed by clubmate Jake O’Connor in third. Ruadhan Crowley, of Dooneen, 11th U17. For West Limerick, Nessa Halpin Colclough 12th with in the U13 Girls in a time of 5 mins 42 seconds and as a top 12 finisher picking up a national medal.

U13 Boys: Alex O'Sullivan 16th was at U13 with Patrick Mulcahy 16th in the U17 Boys. Training Tip With training for spring marathons, well underway, including our own one here in Limerick, Mike Carmody offers this pertinent piece of advice - "Don't blindly try to replicate the training programmes followed by others. Rather seek out the training programme that is optimal for you as an individual athlete.

" Fixtures The Milford Hospice 10K takes place next weekend at the University of Limerick, please support this worthy cause. Enter through Eventmaster or on the day. The Michael Rejmer 10 mile 2025 hosted by Dooneen AC is open for entries on Eventmaster.

Entry is €20, a new 4 and 6 mile relay category has been added and entry is €15 per person. It takes place on Sunday, April 13 at 11am from Limerick Racecourse. The inaugural Limerick Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, August 3 at 9am TUS, Old Cratloe Road.
