Lil Nas X Shares How His Bond With Camila Cabello Brought His Confidence Back: ‘She Made Me Feel So Great’

Lil Nas X in a recent interview opened up about how working with Camila Cabello helped him regain his confidence during a tough time. Lil Nas X and Camila Cabello collaborated on the track He Knows in 2024. The 25-year-old Grammy winner recently opened up about how working with Cabello helped him regain his confidence during a tough time.

“We did a great job at uplifting each other and showing each other how we view the situation and how we view each other from outside of ourselves," Lil Nas X shared during an interview for Paper magazine cover. Lil Nas X explained how spending time with Cabello made him feel valued and appreciated, especially when he was struggling with self-doubt. “Once you made up your mind: ‘Oh, the world doesn’t see me as something great or feels like I’ve done anything amazing.



‘ To hear [affirmation] from somebody who you greatly respect and you love what they’ve done, it feels great, especially because you can feel like it comes from a genuine place, and not like someone trying to get something from you," he added. The Industry Baby artist told the outlet that spending time with Cabello was “fun" and their collaboration happened when he was just “getting comfortable going out to places." “It was just genuine fun," he said while recalling how they spent time together at the 2024 Met Gala and several afterparties.

He further added that Cabello made him feel “so great" and played a big role in helping him regain his confidence. “To finally be at this place, where I’m like, ‘Okay, I know who the f*** I am. I know where I’m going.

I don’t care what none of these bitches say. I didn’t care at first. Why do I care now?'" he continued.

In March, Lil Nas X released his latest single Hotbox along with other promotional tracks from his EP Days Before Dreamboy. When asked why he chose Hotbox as his latest major release, the 25-year-old rapper explained that the song felt “light" and not like an attempt to prove anything to his critics. Lil Nas X admitted that he initially wanted to respond to his critics through his music but later decided to focus on something fun and uplifting instead.

He explained that Hotbox was meant to bring a moment of carefree joy which allowed listeners to forget their worries even if just for a few minutes. The song’s video shows Lil Nas X in a pink dream world. He hangs out by the pool with a handsome guy, dances on top of big pink speakers and shows off his moves next to a pink sports car.
