Light snow expected in Chicago area as temperatures hover below freezing

Light snow is expected in parts of north central and northeast Illinois Thursday with higher accumulation in Indiana where between 1 to 3 inches may affect travel in the afternoon into the evening, National Weather Service officials said. Light snow was expected to spread across the area Thursday afternoon and continue into the evening hours making road conditions slippery as temperatures drop below freezing, officials said. Thursday morning, conditions at O’Hare International Airport are mostly cloudy at 25 degrees, and farther south at Midway Airport conditions are the same at 26 degrees, officials said.

Higher amounts of snow are expected south of Interstate 80 with one to three inches, officials said. There is a 20 percent chance of snow in Chicago Thursday with temperatures slightly above freezing at 31 degrees, officials said. Thursday night there was a slight chance of snow when temperatures are expected to drop to the high teens.



On Friday, officials expected conditions to be mostly sunny and blustery with temps in the mid 20s. On Saturday, the clear conditions are expected to remain with temperatures in the low 20s, officials said, On Sunday, there is a slight chance of snow into Monday..
