HOUSTON — A small grain bowl restaurant chain is launching its first Houston location next year. Honest Mary's offers bowls with rice, quinoa or greens with various nutritious toppings. It is based in Austin with four locations.
Now, they announced a Houston location in the River Oaks Shopping Center. The new restaurant is opening in the fall of 2025. The new address will be 2047-A West Gray Street at Shepherd Drive.
Renderings showed a sleek white building with indoor and outdoor seating. The renderings of the interior showed a counter for ordering food and fast-casual-style tables and booths. Honest Mary's mission is to share "life-giving fast food" and make healthy options more accessible.
The concept was launched by restaurateur Nelson Monteith in 2017. Monteith was born and raised in Houston. “It’s a joy and honor to bring a brand we’ve worked hard to create in Austin and finally be able to share that concept with friends and family in Houston,” Monteith said in an emailed news release.
“There’s a bit of built-in comfort in knowing there are folks here who are already fans of Honest Mary’s. They’ve been asking us for years to open a location in Houston, and now it’s happening.” Excited comments on social media called for the restaurant to expand to San Antonio and Dallas next.
