Libs commit to tax reform, but ‘budget repair comes first’

Peter Dutton says waving through the budget tax cuts would have been the easy thing to do, but they were unaffordable.

Login A Dutton government would be committed to tax reform but the budget needed to be repaired first so meaningful change could be afforded, shadow treasurer Angus Taylor has pledged. Under fire from the government for promising to repeal the top-up tax cuts announced in last week’s federal budget, Taylor said given the state of the books, it would be dishonest to argue those cuts were affordable.
