Liam Payne's psychiatrist recommended 'higher level of care' before dropping pop star

On the day of his death, Liam was reportedly acting erratic in the hotel lobby with management calling 911 to respond to the disturbance. His cause of death was not explicitly attributed to drugs, but a toxicology report found cocaine and alcohol in his system. However, they noted he needed a "higher level of care" than what they could provide, according to court documents obtained by TMZ . The doctor then stepped away from their treatment of the pop star. "Thank you for your understanding, and I wish you the very best in your continued journey toward mental health and well-being," wrote the doctor to Liam as they encouraged the star to seek therapy to "process [his] depression and trauma.

" They additionally provided a list of more resources including doctors and advised him to stay on a treatment plan. Liam was open about his struggles with addiction and mental health. In July 2023, he shared details about his 100-day journey in rehab.

"I definitely don’t need those things anymore. The party's over," he said at the time when he was six months sober. He said: "I just kind of feel like I've got more of a grip on life and everything that was getting away from me, I just feel like I've got more of a handle on it.

I just needed to take a little bit of time out for myself actually because I kind of became somebody who I didn't really recognize anymore. And I'm sure you guys didn't either. I was in bad shape up until that point and I was really happy to kind of put a stopper to life and work.
