The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has announced the rescheduling of the forthcoming Local Government election from November 26 to October 30. The Chairman of the KANSIEC, Sani Malumfashi who made this announcement said the new date is set to comply with the Supreme Court deadline set for the end of October. Malumfashi while speaking with newsmen revealed the new date aligns with the Supreme Court’s ruling and the mutual agreement between state and Federal Governments regarding the deadline.

Malumfashi also confirmed that the commission had set the nomination fees at N10 million for chairmanship candidates and N5 million for councillorship candidates, despite opposition from aspirants who deemed the fees exorbitant. The commission has maintained its stance on the nomination fees despite the pushback from those vying for positions in the upcoming elections..
