Lewis Hamilton will be happy to move on from an underwhelming Japanese Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton has explained that Ferrari have identified a significant 'issue' with the car after the first three races of the 2025 season and are targeting an improvement with an upcoming upgrade package. The seven-time world champion announced his arrival as a Ferrari driver with a commanding sprint race win in Shanghai, but Hamilton has reverted back to the mean since, struggling behind team-mate Charles Leclerc in the Grands Prix in both China and Japan. At the legendary Suzuka Circuit, Hamilton qualified a disappointing eighth behind Isack Hadjar, and improved by just one position in the Grand Prix to finish in P7.

Team-mate Leclerc was fourth behind Max Verstappen and the McLaren duo, despite executing what he labelled a perfect race. Speaking to Sky Sports F1 about his struggles, Hamilton said: "No, I think I did the best I could today - generally lacking performance compared to the cars ahead of me, particularly Mercedes , McLaren and obviously the Red Bull . "We've found something on the car that has been underperforming for the last three races, so I'm really hoping that when that is fixed, I'll start getting better results.

But yeah, I'm losing just over a tenth a lap with this issue we have, so I'm hoping that in the next race,e it is fixed." MORE TO FOLLOW We'll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story. For the latest news and breaking news visit: /sport/football .
