Lewis Hamilton was frustrated after qualifying at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton labelled his Japanese Grand Prix qualifying performance as 'not good enough on my side'. The Brit was frustrated after finishing eighth-fastest in Q3, setting up a difficult race on Sunday. The seven-time world champion struggled to match team-mate Charles Leclerc's pace throughout the qualifying sessions and was never in the conversation for a spot on the front two rows of the grid.

Unfortunately for Hamilton, things got worse in Q3 on the final runs, and he was classified in P8, behind Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli and Racing Bulls' Isack Hadjar, who battled through discomfort to record an eye-catching P7 qualifying finish in just his third Grand Prix.
