AG Sunday must speak out against attacks on lawyersI am gravely concerned that Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday’s signature was not attached to the letter recently authored by 21 of his fellow state attorneys general titled “An Open Letter to the Legal Community Regarding the President’s Attacks on the Legal Profession and the Federal Judiciary.” Sunday is a Republican, that’s understood. The matter at hand, however, is not of partisan politics.
The work he is entrusted with as a member of the bar and attorney general is fundamental to the freedoms and protections guaranteed to Americans and those subject to its judicial system. This administration’s war on the agency and dignity of Sunday’s profession and the rightful capacity of all Americans cannot be tolerated if the principles Sunday swore to uphold, embodied in our Constitution, are to survive for another generation (or election cycle). I call on his character as an American citizen.
Do not fail us in fealty to this president’s temperament of retribution. Heed Holocaust historian Yehuda Bauer’s wise admonition: “thou shall not be a perpetrator; thou shall not be a victim; and thou shall never, but never, be a bystander.” I urge Mr.
Sunday: End your silence.Chris CarsonBethlehemUplifting articles, photos were greatly appreciatedFeatured on the front page of the March 29 edition of The Morning Call was an article with photos showing the smiling faces of three deserving young women who had been granted college scholarships. Their happiness was contagious.
The story immediately below featured a wonderful service being provided by cancer survivor Paloma Soledad. She has taken it upon herself to produce and provide “medically adaptive clothing” for fellow patients undergoing cancer treatment. These patients are too often challenged by issues related to self-image and personal esteem.
Such uplifting reporting is very much appreciated. Thank you ..

HunsickerLower Saucon TownshipWhat greatness means, doesn’t mean in AmericaAmerica is great when it shares its wealth of lives, armaments and expertise to defend freedom and democratic principles. America is great when it shares its wealth to feed, clothe and shelter the poor at home and abroad.
America is great when it looks within itself and tries to address its own flaws of bigotry, racial injustices, economic disparity and the various iniquities that are inherent within the human condition.America is not so great when it adopts a self-righteous attitude of indignation and regret for its generosity to allies and demands satisfactory compensation for past and present extensions of generosity, comradery and goodwill. America is not so great when it continually refuses to develop a sensible and humane immigration policy consistent with its founding principles while simultaneously floating immigration proposals to grant green cards and expedited citizenship at a price of $5 per person.
MAGA.Pat MazzaEastonDiscussion of military plans on phone app was dangerousI am appalled, as all Americans should be, at the reckless use of the Signal app to discuss war plans and seemingly classified information. Everyone involved should have known better.
It could have put the lives of our pilots and military personnel at risk and made it much less likely that our allies will be willing to share any information with us when they know it could be compromised. The hypocrisy of the Republicans is stunning when it is clear that any Democrat doing this (Hillary Clinton, for example) would have been swiftly vilified. This was not just a simple mistake.
It was supremely unprofessional and dangerous and participants should be fired, starting with Pete Hegseth, the most supremely unqualified defense secretary ever appointed. Every senator who voted to confirm him should be ashamed.I fear for the safety of our country and our relationships with our allies under this administration, which is doing everything it can to destroy the world order that has kept us safe for decades.
Mary DawsonLower Saucon TownshipIs football stadium best use of charter school’s money?According to The Morning Call, the Allentown charter school Executive Education Academy is planning on building a 126,713-square-foot, 4,100-seat multisport stadium. This stadium is in addition to the recent 28,000-square-foot, $7 million field house that opened last spring. Executive Education has 1,431 students in grades K-12, according to the site Public School Review.
Even if their test ranking weren’t in the bottom 50% of public schools in Pennsylvania, which they are (according to Public School Review), doesn’t this seem extreme, especially considering they play only five home football games a season? Wouldn’t this money be better spent on extra help for academics? Who is deciding what is best for the students’ futures?Linda RoseEmmausFeels like paper’s focus is on Bethlehem over AllentownEver since the new year started, my impression is that The Morning Call has become Bethlehem-centric. Photos and news articles seem to feature or focus on Bethlehem. It could just be my imagination, but I don’t think so.
Has the circulation skewed more to Bethlehem? I’m not saying there are no articles about Allentown, it’s just that articles/photos on the St. Patrick’s Day parade, educational articles, even weather photos, etc. seem to exclude Allentown.
Robert YapsugaLower Macungie TownshipMackenzie lacks clear stance on climate change concernsSince he entered Congress, I have written several letters to Ryan Mackenzie mostly voicing my concerns over environmental/climate crisis issues. I found the response I received vague. I also listened to his “phone town hall” and attempted to ask a question, but did not get called on.
However, I found his replies on every issue raised during the call to be fuzzy nonanswers. In other words, he seemed to avoid any clear stance on issues. I encourage everyone to carefully monitor his voting record.
From my review, he easily votes with Donald Trump at every turn. I do not think voting down every climate-related Biden-era policy will help Lehigh Valley families live in a healthy environment, while he suggests helping Lehigh Valley families is his goal.Mary Ellen O’ConnellHanover Township, Northampton CountyThe Morning Call publishes letters from readers online and in print several times a week.
